I am so glad I don't live in Minnesota.
First Ventura, now this.
I almost put him in the same level of loathing as Hannity and Coulter.
I hate the fact that he and Air America are considered the liberal voice of talk radio by the press and politicians.

Minnesota > Nebraska

Minnesota > Nebraska

As a state, Minnesota will always be bigger and better and its music scene has more history and talent.
Politically speaking, I'd take Nebraska's current crop of politicians versus what Minnesota has produced lately.
I live in a state with barely 1.5 million people, yet our two Senators are easily some of the most influential if not most powerful members right now because one is a former Republican who switched parties to run for Governor and seems to love Dubya, while the other is a former Democrat who switched parties because he loathes the other Senator/Former Governor and he berates Dubya on about everything.
Historically speaking, Nebraska has produced as many highly regarded politicians as the Land of 1,000 lakes. Minnesota produced Humphrey and Mondale, while Nebraska produced William Jennings Bryan and George Norris.

Shit, I didn't think anyone else really knew about it, so I refrain from mentioning that restaurant chain.
Nothing like a loaf of bread filled with hamburger, cabbage and onions. You can also add cheese and a whole bunch of crap now.

Well, I was keeping it on the political level, I could always mention football since the Gophers haven't played us much since the 84-13 beatdown we gave them in the early 80's.
Politically, we have also produced the latest Secretary of Agriculture, we have the only Unicameral in america and the 1988 VP debate featuring the classic line "I knew Jack Kennedy, and you sir are no Jack Kennedy" was held in Omaha.

I'd worry he'd turn into the liberal Kissinger as he got old; consumed with making sure he had all the right connections and was thought of favorably over accomplishing anything concrete.

He doesn't do that now, but something tells me he'll devolve into a nebbishy, worried old fart.

Man, I would never put Kissinger in the category of someone who wanted to be thought of favorably. He basically told myself and about a thousand other conference delegates to fuck off when he was questioned about Pinochet and Indonesia at a Political Science convention.
It was hillarious, it is the only time I have ever seen a keynote speaker get booed during their Q & A session.

It's not that Kissinger seems to need approval so much as wants complete control of his "legacy" and unfettered access to power.

He seems to want to be forever consulted, like some bizarre Hungarian Billy Graham/Hercule Poirot.

But he never seemed to care so much if his consultations resulted in anything useful or if they wound up being horrible advice. He seems to care more about Being Kissinger, not about being truly useful.

Not that I know a damn about Kissinger personally, just impressions from the last 35 years.

I get what you are saying. He's one of those assholes who feels like they need to be consulted about every important issue that has to do with their field of expertise, even if they aren't really relevant to current issues or are way past their prime.
If they aren't consulted or their opinions are completely ignored, then they will always feel like the decision or outcome can never be as good as how it would have been if they were involved.

Apparently some of the stuff that came out after Ford died revealed him to be petty and constantly worried about everyone thinking he was the smartest person in the room,

Also, this might prove a GREAT way to assure Norm Coleman gets a second term.

They can have the Vikings. I'd never root for a midwest team that moved iindoors and wears purple. They have also lost four Super Bowls.
