Ok, so forgive me, I've had a couple glasses of wine, but felt like pontificating... feel free to make fun or add your own words o' wisdom.

(1) Currently reading Rob Sheffield's "Love is a Mix Tape" and I've already cried once. He makes a good point in the book though-- as a Southern girl, you're either a Kate girl or a Cindy girl (B-52's, y'all). I'm definitely a Kate girl.

(2) Riding 30 miles yesterday on my bike felt good, and the day ended as such, with sunlight glinting off the Willamette as I pedaled home at a nice, even 17 mph. Even though I feel sad and depressed these days, I still must have some mojo, as I got "picked up" by another cyclist on the way home. His line? "Can I have your number so I can call you to go ride sometime?" I smiled, told him I was married but otherwise I'd be down for it. I figured that was somewhat of a nice letdown, especially since he let me draft off him for a mile or so.

(3) Damien Dempsey has the voice of an angel. His album "Shots" has been therapeutic for me as of late. "Don't look out, look within, change yourself to begin."

(4) Nothing makes a Sunday afternoon more enjoyable, after spent going to the gym, cleaning house, doing laundry, etc., etc., as having a nice bubble bath, closely followed by a home manicure. The color I picked? OPI's Music Hall Curtain Call. Oh, and my black prAna yoga pants are the perfect apres-bath wear, haha.

(5) I'm finally getting around to seeing "Cinema Paradiso." I'm not sure why I waited so long to do so.

I'm feeling quiet, introspective, and somewhat content at the moment. That has to count for something, right?

Nice post, except for the "sad and depressed" part.

Glad you had a good ride. We did an old ride on the back roads/trails of a lake nearby. 40 miles of mtb'ing that was more labor than love. *shrug* Oh, well.

We had climbed this earlier in the day, and this was taken on the way back down. That's New Hogan Lake way in the back.

Sounds like a nice weekend, Dana. Sorry about the sad and depressed part, but great to know you've got the mojo flowin'!

tania/finch... I'm alright, just going through some weird stuff right now. Thanks Cory and Chris!

Some pics from the ride:

this was in the morning at the beginning of the ride, Hawthorne "ghost" bridge emerging from the fog

the "east side, yo" of the Willamette... on the water you can see the Eastbank Esplanade right on top of the water... that's where I ride to go home.

another random thought... guys? if you want to GUARANTEE some fun with your girl? Take her to see "Music and Lyrics." Hugh Grant is to die for (of course) and Drew Barrymore is very cute in the film... she excels at this sort of fare. Yeah, not high-brow entertainment, but cute, and you have to go see it for the Wham!-influenced video alone.
