When I'm in My Computer or whatever, I cannot simply double-click on a folder or hit 'Enter' to open it. If I do so, nothing happens. Or rather, it looks like it's going to open it, but then nothing happens.

I have to right-click and select Open.

There's an option to turn off double-clicking, and use only single click. That's probably what happened somehow.

As long as we're on the subject of computer problems, can anyone tell me how to "allow multiple instances" when downloading stuff?

I used to be able to download from a million different sources at the same time but now I can have up to TWO max at a time. I haven't been able to find out where to go in order to change this.

Oh, and this is for teh ancient Windows 98SE.

<---still rockin' a computer made in '97 with a Pentium III chip.

I think the downloading issue is related to the site you are downloading from.

But that shouldn't affect me hitting the Enter key to open it.

Also, it's only the folders.

I can doubleclick to open photos or programs or music.

If you're saying you can hit those and nothing happens, this is a common spyware tactic used to try and prevent you from Task Managering your way out of a program that's monitoring you. Could be something else, I guess, but last year something got ahold of the wife's laptop and did that. I wound up formatting the hard drive and starting over.
