And the fact that it came out only 2 weeks after the attacks makes it particularly brilliant.

I remember reading this at the time and simultaneously laughing and crying.

Just thought about this the other day, so I thought I'd post the link, even though I'm sure that most, if not all of you have read it before.

So brilliant.

When I visited in Chicago in '03, Prince of Darkness and I were watching a conference session with the Onion staff on C-SPAN. A lot of talk revolved around this issue and how great it is/was.

Yeah, well... since they cut my head open, I have been particularly succeptable to distraction and compulsive behavior.

Let's see how you do after having a cavity drilled into your right temporal lobe.

(And yes, I've seen the MRI pictures, there is an actual fluid-filled cavity in there where some of my brain used to be... but I guess you all can tell!!! :o )

"Not knowing what else to do, woman bakes american flag cake"

and

"Hijackers surprised to find selves in Hell"

This one is great:

The Onion Wrote:
President Urges Calm, Restraint Among Nation's Ballad Singers

WASHINGTON, DC—In the wake of the recent national tragedy, President Bush is urging Mariah Carey, Michael Jackson, and other singers to resist the urge to record mawkish, insipid all-star tribute ballads. "To America's recording artists, I just want to say, please, there has already been enough suffering," Bush said. "The last thing we need right now is a soaring Barbra Streisand-Brian McKnight duet titled 'One For All.'" Reports that the FBI had confiscated several notebooks and audio tapes from Diane Warren's home could not be confirmed as of press time.

One of my favorite articles from The Onion is one titled something along the lines of:

"God finally answers little boys prayers for healing. God says 'No'."

I'd say the 9/11 articles, aside from the HOLY FUCKING SHIT graphic, have got nothing on this one.

I, too, thought this was going to be somehow tied to Gulliver's Travels.

It's resized down. If you click on it, it shows up full size and crystal clear.
