I read a Clash bio a while back and now am reading the latest Beatles tome, and both make reference to teddy boys, teddies, or teds in Brit culture. I've gleaned that they are rockist rough-necked types, but does anyone out there have a better definition of the ted? Evolution of the ted? Any American equivalent?
