I'm back! I escaped to New Zealand for the first 7 weeks of this year, and just got in last night. It was incredible.

You didn't even realize I was gone, did you?

I hate you. So there...

So what's new around here?

Heya!
Welcome back.

I haven't heard many '07 releases yet, but the new Sea & Cake is great. And The good, the Bad, and the Queen ain't bad.

Oh yeah.
Typically solid, rockin' fun.

Really?
This is the only album that I have listened to this year that has really disappointed me. I didn't expect them to stick to the same formula they used on Silent Alarm, but I guess I was hoping they'd do something in a similar vain as Interpol did for Antics. The same, yet different.
I thought there are some decent tracks near the end of the album, but I have a hard time getting into the early tracks.
I really had high expectations, maybe too high.

Oh, and sorry for not noticing your absence.
A troll named Sensei has kept us pretty entertained in your time of leave, plus your post total equals about what Frostingspoon does in about two days.
Nice to have you back.

Welcome back, nacho!

The three sure-fire winners of the 2007 album season so far are Sondre Lerche, Andrew Bird and Kings of Leon.

By all means, steer clear of that BLAH Party!!!

Welcome back. I'm jealous of your trip.

I haven't heard much from this year yet, but the new Deerhoof and Of Montreal albums are very good. I also really like what I've heard of that Deerhunter record.

Good to see ya back around here.

As for 2007 stuff I would recommend Apples in Stereo and the She's Spanish, I'm American EP (new stuff from Josh Rouse). I think everything else I would have suggested has been covered already.

It's gonna be a little while. I have to sort through about 800 pics. Literally.

I was in the same place (Wellington) for all of Jan, so I didn't take many pictures after the first week. Probably between 100-200 for the month.

For the 19 days of Feb I was there, I was traveling around the South Island, and started off taking a ton of pictures. But honestly, I got so sick of taking so many pictures of amazing scenery that I slowed my pace considerably.

Kinda like if you take a trip to Europe and see a bunch of different cities, sometimes you eventually get sick of seeing amazing cathedrals every other day. In NZ, it's nature instead.

Wow, I so wanted to go to NZ this January. So, how's Philly?

I was in NZ for six months ten years ago and took four rolls worth of pictures. I am lame. But they're mostly very pretty - hard to take a bad shot there.

Modest Mouse - best album of the year, head and shoulders ahead of anything they've ever done.

God it's ugly here. There's even snow on the ground. I'm hoping I'll have missed the really cold weather though.

But it's also nice to be back in a big city. Saw Snowden and Malajube tonight. Not too many shows in NZ.

Now, if I could only sleep...

no, I didn't spend any time in Auckland, or most of the North Island, for that matter.

Welcome back, nacho.

Bloc Party is a grower but more consistent top-to-bottom than Silent Alarm.
The Good, The Bad, and The Queen (Damon Albarn, et al.) is pretty good.
Black Thought and J. Period released a "Best of the Roots" mixtape that I like quite a bit.
