Finally rented this and saw this tonight for the first time.

And yeah......

I love Lost In Translation. I like The Virgin Suicides. I'm a big fan of Schwartzman and I've grown to tolerate Dunst.

But this is just really boring.

Visually amazing. Gorgeous, like all of her movies. But the plot is just so dull.

I know I'll have to see this eventually, because my gf has been dying to watch it.

Can stand Coppola, but hate Dunst...

but I'll probably end up watching it in the next few weeks. Such is the life of the 4-disc Netflixer....

My wife and I enjoyed it. I'd rate it #2 for me in her 3 films that she's made. VS, MA, and then LiT. I think the visually great part is well deserved as a compliment. I didn't get bored for one moment. I'm not a MA/French historian, but I do accept that because its a film there would questions to validity.

I loved it. Absolutely loved it.

And I actually found Lost boring, I couldn't get through the whole movie.

Marie is never meant to be a historical biography, it's not a film where you're supposed to gleam facts from it. It's just supposed to be a lavish telling of a young girl's rise in power in a land she's not familiar with.

I really liked Dunst in the film. The soundtrack was awesome. I actually want to buy it. And of course the Versailles Palace and costumes, the art direction-you name it-were absolutely stunning.

I would like to see it if for nothing else, it has a fun soundtrack and looks stunning. If I have good music and pretty pictures, I can enjoy myself for a couple hours.

I view this as more of a character study than a story with a plot. I thought it was interesting and visually stunning and would probably give it a B/B+

Was there a preview with a Strokes song? I just remember the New Order one, and saying to myself that I had to see the film.

The music just worked in the film. Very well placed.

A film called "Jubilee" keeps popping up when ever reviews of MA are laid down. Anyone seen it? I'd rec it to anyone who enjoys 80s nostalgia/costume drama. MA had to have been inspired ALOT by it.

I don't plan to watch this. I didn't like Virgin Suicides, and I'm thinking maybe Lost in Translation was a fluke.

I was a big fan of the soundtrack. It felt like the only time the movie had any energy to it.

Holy ball sack this is the most boring movie I've ever seen. I want them to cut this bitch's head off already.

i got all hard with the wire intro.
then the lack of plot gave me whiskey dick and i went to bed.
but let it be known:
kirsten dunst has a nice pooper.

I think Sofia Coppola overestimated how interesting Louis XVI's inability to knock up his wife is.

Pretty pictures though.

lost in translation is the movie i put on if i want to fall asleep. it took me about 4 times to actually watch the movie in its entirety because i fell asleep everytime.

i haven't seen marie yet, but i fucking cannot stand kirsten dunst so i'm hesitant to watch it.

i love kirsten dunst so i didn't mind watching her be boring for 2 hours at all. i was expecting to be bored though, and for nothing to happen so i was pretty pleasantly surprised at this. like somebody else said, you can't go into this expecting any sort of a plot and i even think calling it a "character study" is pretty generous. it's just a visually pleasing waste of a couple of hours. i'd never watch it again but i enjoyed it.
