Or is it that insignificant that the great political minds of Obner are indifferent?

On a purely superficial level, I don't think the repubs will go for him. He is kinda of a wiener.

I think he'd be one of the more effective Republicans and would see what he could do to extricate us from Iraq.

However, I don't have faith in whom he'd appoint to work for him. Quite often it's cabinet members who give me the creeps moreso than candidates.

Rudy's not a pleasant man, but he is effective.

A Rudy-Fred Thompson ticket might tug at the tatters of my nearly-dead Conservative past, but only tug.

Democrats are staring down one of the most winnable elections in their history and will proceed to nominate either Obama or Hillary, either of which will ensure defeat unless the Republicans just do something monumentally stupid, which when it comes to politics and elections seems unlikely.

It's not my belief that nominating Obama is monumentally stupid.

Not at all my belief, no.

He's likely a better option then Hillary, but he's still a long shot at best. I wish I had more faith than to think that a black guy with a funny name would be judged purely on his merits and not on such extraneous bullshit. But, I am much less optromistic than all that when it comes to the American voting public.

So far he's being judged on his ability to bring people together, on his charisma and on his commitment. Also, because he's Other Than What Came Before.

While that's not a replacement for a genuine platform, I think it can get him elected this particular cycle, barring some extremely powerful behind-the-scenes prick taking a dislike to the man.

This time round, many people want a president they can actually like.

Don't discount the large voting block of seniors...you know those people, many of whom were just fine with things the way they were in the 50s before desegregation...taking a little extra pause before casting a vote for Obama when they're all alone in the voting booth and not answering some guy asking if they'd consider voting for a black man (even one that doesn't seem all that black to much of black America).

I wish I shared your optomism, but I don't.

If Giuliani makes it out of the primaries as the GOP's candidate, I think he'd end up stomping Hillary or Obama worse than people currently think. Both he and McCain are currently tied or ahead of all the relevant Democratic candidates according to Rasmussen Report polls.

Guiliani is way too smart to be a Republitard. You have to be a moderate conservative to get elected mayor of NYC. He doesn't give a shit about gay marriage, abortion, or any of the other issues that true conservatives obsses about. If he did then he never would have been mayor. Same goes for Swartzenegger. Us libs in California can tolerate the Governator because he isn't a foaming at the mouth religious zealot. Same for Rudy in the NYC '90s. I'm sure all the red, flyover states in middle america are gonna be repulsed by Guiliani's liberal laissez-faire attitude, even though he is likely to portray himself as some family values proponent. But considering his acrimonious divorce that shit a'int gonna fly with dim-witted rednecks who think he's a Jew. Republicans need to appeal to the segment of the voting populace who thought Saddam had something to do with 9/11. Morons are their bread and butter. Guiliani will never appeal to these dummies from the South. I think McCain is gonna be the guy for the republitards. He's gonna appeal to the flag-waving rednecks and he isn't as repulsive to dems as the Brownbacks of the world who want to impose the 1950's on America. I really wish Gore would run again. I think the American people realize what a mistake it was to not vote for him and want to correct the error of their ways. Regardless, Republitard or Democrat, I will be thrilled to see the end of Bush in January '09. He's done irreparable damage to this country and he cannot go soon enough.

Yeah, that sort of dismissal of middle america is why middle america is middle america.

There are millions of Mellencampy-type blue collar moderates who don't at all resemble what you describe above.

The neighbor dude from Office Space, that's middle america, not some moronic mass o' dumb.

Rednecks are in Kentucky, and gay people are in San Franciso. These aren't stereotypes, these are facts. Who do you think voted for Bush? Yeah, ok, and we shouldn't profile Arabs as terrorists, and we shouldn't profile stupid rednecks as being Bush supporters. And we shouldn't profile white males in their early thirties as the likeliest serial killers. You are a fucking ignorant empty vessel of a person. Ask Tanner how this works.

I know Bloor disagrees, but I like Rudy. I also think Rudy should hang a lantern on his problems: WHY THE FUCK DO WE WANT A SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER IN THE WHITE HOUSE?! He could fuck a black prostie on the white house lawn for all I care, I like someone willing to go to mat with these swine, no matter who these swine are. Dude took on the mafia, union corruption and all of NYCs various fiefdoms, and when teh chips (and BUILDINGS) were down, homie did his thing. I am a fan.

Is it your stance that there are no rednecks in California and no gay people in Kentucky?

Because that would be bright, that would.

Didn't his opponent, an avowed racist with no formal pary support and very little in the way of financing still manage to garner a decent amount of votes?

If a guy like that can win even a quarter of the electorate, sadly enough I don't think we should underestimate the effects of race on modern American elections.

Oh yeah...and the only way I'm voting for Giuliani is if he uses the Clash's Rudy Can't Fail for his theme song.

There are plenty of rednecks in Cali (Bakersfield, yo) and there are a handful of gays in KY (Brian, I'm looking at you). Nice point, you fucktard. Are there Sunni Muslims in Iraq? Of course but there are many more Shias. Just like there is a preponderance of Bush supporters in the fly-over red states. You somehow misconstrued my larger argument. I'm pointing out that a preponderance of the people in the South are republicans, not all of them. Your reading comprehension is laughable.

Well, that's dumber than anything I have ever said on Obner.

You appear to have the political mind of a 13 year old, which ironically is about 3 years more advanced than mine.

are you insinuating sensei's not gay? if we've learned anything about republican-types recently is that they like their men young. he might be offended by that.
