Allz I know is that they play a style of music that I'm not usually turned on by.
But DAMN, do I like what I've heard of them!

they don't quite reach the epic heights of some of the other similar bands, but they are still really damn good.

I enjoy this album. May not make a top 10 but it is an enjoyable listen.

New album is the first I've heard from them and I like it a lot. While listening to music last night, I thought "Hey, I think I read that DMST is coming to Chicago sometime soon!" Looked it up and they were here Saturday night. Same night that I stayed in and watched Boogie Nights for the tenth time.

From the bits of Winter Hymn I've heard, would Godspeed, Explosion, and Tortoise be an adequate RIYL?

I loves me some post-rock.

yes. appropriate enough. DMST, to me, sounds like Broken Social Scene without lyrics.

To tell you the truth. I do not know. I don't own Winter Hymn. I own the new one and Goodbye Enemy Airship...

I imagine they're probably pretty similar but I cannot say for sure. I love Goodby Enemy Airship. It's a little bit different, but IMO you can still tell it's the same band...

t, in my opinion...this new one is pretty different from Winter Hymn. at least as different as you can get in "post-rock". new one features vocals and some different instrumentation (horns!). personally i like it a lot...it's nice to see them change it up a bit, while still retaining their sound.

Agreed. I would go so far as to say I like this one better than Winter Hymn for these very reasons. Just really well written and executed IMO.

I like them better than Explosions...don't own any Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Come to think of it, why don't I? I'll have to remedy that.

I love horns, so color me excited.
DSMT is probably my favorite post rock band but the last couple of Broken Social Scene albums has kind of knocked them off my radar.

and you people think I only like jail rock
