I'm more excited about this than probably any other album in the past decade.

Man, I just do not get the love for this guy.
Y'all need to chill.

I didn't either for awhile....Listen to Abel or Mr. November LOUDLY and you may come around. Alligator may be the rekkid I listen to most from 2005.

Can't wait to hear this. Chase or Z or whoever -- is the older one worth picking up?

I hope it's an all-instrumental album. Either that, or they found a new lyricist.

I don't know what it is about this band, but I can't get through that Alligator album. I just end up shutting it off about half way through.

no, that's the self-titled one. this is what i'm talking about:

Image

features what may be their best song (yeah, i know - maybe even better than "abel") and is in general a little more laid-back/twangy than other material.

if you're turning it off halfway through, you're missing some of the best songs.

Definitely looking foward to this and a tour...I was blown away by them at Pitchfork last year.

Alligator is the ultimate grower album...put it on late at night with a bottle of red.

oh man... the show they played at schubas the year before blew away the pitchfork show. (i know red will back me up on that.) they played "all the wine", "mr november", and "murder me rachael" in a row. it was unreal.

I've never seen them, but I've only heard amazing things. Maybe the haters would be turned by a live show...

actually, maybe not. they are very good live, but they have no idea how to end a show. each time i've seen them they've ended on really poor choices - either some total downer or a mid-tempo new song that no one's heard. in my experience, they've had trouble maintaining momentum through the end of a set and encore.

Nah. They just need to be odd cover version choices.

The "downer" is probably "About Today" and is one of their best songs.
