Didn't someone do this? I thought I remembered seeing one for a bit then it disapeared. Is it still being updated? Can someone post a link to it?

I did not. But my band only had three albums, and two EP's. If it had been an artist with a career spanning many decades, I may have.

Sometimes chronological is the best way, but a lof of times it isn't.

Generally, I'd say avoid it if possible. That way you're doing more than just picking out your favorite tracks, but you're also working towards recontextualizing them in a new way. It makes your mix more "personal".

That said, if I make a Songs: Ohia/Magnolia Electric/Jason Molina mix (which I plan to do), it'll probably have to be at least semi-chronological.

I'm trying to find a cure for cancer right now, and then there's my sick grandfather who escaped the holocaust back in the day, and the march of dimes kid that i've adopted and try to spend lots of time with.

or, i'm just hella busy.

Is this project officially dead?

I could still use a Frank Zappa mix. And The Field Mice too.

I'm still going to do some more whenever I get time.

No Frank Zappa or Field Mice from me, though.

I'm just starting to listen to these now.

This Flaming Lips one is pretty good. I hadn't really heard anything pre-CTM by them, despite my obsession with the band, so the mix was good. And the lack of a chronological tracklisting was preferable.

4/5

Took me long enough.

I hope you're still interested and I hope you like it:

Yo La Tengo according to Jasmine

Looks to me like the songs are in a messed up order, so I apologize for that.

The Whole of the Law - Painful 1993
From a Motel 6 - Painful 1993
Sudden Organ - Painful 1993
Big Day Coming - Painful 1993
Our Way to Fall - And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out 2000
Sugarcube - I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One 1997
Let's Save Tony Orlando's House - ATNTII-O 2000
The Crying of Lot G - ATNTII-O 2000
Stockholm Syndrome - ICHTHBAO 1997
*Autumn Sweater - ICHTHBAO 1997
Cherry Chapstick - ATNTII-O 2000
Winter A Go-Go - Summer Sun 2003
Moonrock Mambo - SS 2003
One PM Again - ICHTHBAO 1997
Take Care - SS 2003
Little Eyes - SS 2003

*My absolute favorite YLT song of all time and definitely one of my top 10 of all time.

I know, I missed a lot of other albums, but these are the ones I listen to most frequently and love the most. Hope you like it.

Ok. Obner has been declared dead or at least a vegetable a la Schaivo. We can either pull the plug or do something about it, goddamnit. Since I am a man of action I am bringing this thread back to life.

It's time for another round of the single-artist mix exchange.

Some general rules:
1. Dont post the download links in here - we need to abide by the administrative rules. When you pick an artist, post the band name in here so we all know. When you are done just simply post in this thread that you are done and what the artist is and then people who are interested can contact you.

2. Please restrain yourself and stick to 20 songs or less.

3. Please do not do an artist that has already been done above.

4. Include a track list

5. Don't pick a crappy band or crappy songs of a good band

Yeah, I'm not getting in this.

On that note, I'm sending out the mixes from that last mix exchange out tomorrow.

I'd still like to do one of these for Songs:Ohia/Magnolia Elec. Co./Jason Molina. I just need to find the time to try and pick out his best songs.

There were a few others I wanted to do, too, but that would be my priority.

Yeah, I'm definitely in for some more mixes. I was thinking of doing up a Sloan and CCR mix, the latter featuring some of the lesser known songs.
