Long time Phillies coach John Vukovich died today at the age of 59 from an inoperable brain tumor. Now most of you have either already heard the news or just may not care. I understand that. However, growing up surrounded by Phillies news and broadcasts, it was impossible not to like this guy. But if you get a chance, Jayson Stark of ESPN and Curt Schilling wrote tributes to him in their blogs and they're both very good reads. I'll post the links for you to check out.

Jayson Stark: Remembering A True Gem of a Man

Curt Schiling: Rest In Peace, Vuk

Yeah, as a hardcore Phillies fan this news hit me pretty hard.
He was a class act that made the organization better.

He always seemed like a nice dude, so this sucks. I wonder if they'll have his number as a patch this year ?

i grew up with season tickets to the phillies and i was at the first game when he came back from one major surgery. with our seats on the third base side, the reception was overwhelming when he ran out in the bottom of the first.
