saw em live 6x last year, and they sucked each time...but thats just me.

really? i checked their tour but they're not doing any la shows anytime soon.

they are alright. i dont really care about them other than the fact they are a portland band slowly making it big

Not terrible, but not my cup of tea either. I'd probably like it more if the production wasn't so perfect. Reminds me of newer Idlewyld releases. It makes the sadness seem contrived, and it just comes off as sappy.

And not good enough to have a Belle & Sebastian reference for a name.

Well said. My first reaction was interest, but I think a lot of it was based on the ear candy on the record - just every studio novelty in the book. Some neat sounds for sure, but after a few listens it wears off.

They're opening for the Long Winters when I go see 'em, so apparantly I'll be seeing them live. I hadn't even heard of this band before the thread.
