According to the commentary on the Tom Green Show dvd set, they don't sell milk in bags in the States.

Is this for real?

I've never bought mik in a carton.

You realize there are other cities in Canada besides Toronto, right?

Are you implying that you can't buy milk in a bag in BC either?

Where are Ish, DumpJack, and Northern Soul to weigh in?

And maybe it is one of those things where you grow up with it so you're used to it and don't think about it. It's not like it's that much more work. I'd find it more work to unscrew the cap or whatever every time I wanted milk as opposed to just taking the pitcher out of the fridge and pouring.

Yeah, given that milk goes bad faster than most anything else in your fridge, the cap seems like a pretty solid idea.

When I've heard the phrase "I'd like some of them milk bags" in the past, I thought of it euphemistically.

Being from a much earlier era than most everyone here, I still remember when the milk man delivered it twice a week, in glass bottles. Good stuff.

I remember the milkman too!! And I think the glass bottle should be brought back. There's supposedly a dairy nearby that bottles their milk and sells it to the public -- unfortunately, I hear it's much more expensive than carton milk.

We have never had any problems with the milk going bad or anything because of this. If it was that rampant a problem, I suspect they'd stop selling it like this.

And it's not like my family is the odd one out by buying 4L bags of milk. I run the grocery section at my store and it's almost the only thing anybody buys.

Bagged milk is usually UHT, no? So goes off slower anyhow.

I mostly buy box milk, the happy medium here, 'cause I don't use much or go to the store often. Parmalat quarts, all the way.

Oberweis? They put their milk in bottles.
