What the fuck? I can't get the jewel case out of the cardboard slip. I don't remember having this problem with similarly packaged Wilco albums.

Okay, finally gave up and cut the packaging. So annoying.

I take it you bought the vastly inferior "regular edition". Just tear up the cardboard sleave and forget about it.

I bought the "special edition" at Best Buy for $12. (It was much more expensive at other places.)

It comes with two flipbooks which are mildly entertaining for about 10 seconds. It also has a special cover thing that looks more neon-y and "animates" when you move it in the light.

I probably wouldn't have bought this album at all if I hadn't found this version for relatively cheap. I'm a sucker for packaging gimmicks. And as gimmicks go, these are pretty damn gimmicky.

I saw that at Best Buy and thought about it since it was only $2 more. Clearly made a big mistake. Perhaps the extra $2 was less about the funky cover and book and more about being able to actually get to your CD.

Well, that's annoying. On two counts.

But it didn't require destruction.

Yeah, I've had this problem a lot.

While we are griping about packaging the Seinfeld DVD packaging is horrendous.

1. First you have to take it out the cardboard protector around the box
2. Then you have to take the disc packaging out the box
3. Then you have to open the disc packaging.
4. Then you take a disc out
5. Then you have to close the disc packaging.
6. Then you have to put the disc packaging back in the box
7. Then you have to put the box back in the cardboard protector

All this to get a disc.

Obviously discs should simply come in bags.

Mine was tight, but I liked sliding it in and out. I'm a little disappointed that the cover is in color, but the artwork is black and white.

Inconvenience in the name of art.

Paper booklets in plastic cases have been fine for the most part.

Not really. I'm stating how I prefer the traditional cd packaging over this fancy, but unpractical, new packaging these bands are going with.

bring back the longbox i say. no i don't, but if anyone thinks i'm spending extra money on packaging because somebody throws a couple of doodles into a booklet, think again. you know i have been so good about using leaks only as previews, but maybe it's time to treat these assholes the way they would treat me.
