That is my final too, but I don't have a major erection for A&M like alot of the ESPN gurus do. I didn't think they looked all that great except for that one game against Texas. Okie State beat them in the tourney and that to me says they are fading down the stretch.

Losing in your conference tourney doesn't necessarily mean you are fading down the stretch. Maryland lost in the quarterfinals of the ACCT the year it won the national championship. UNC didn't win the ACCT in '05 when it won its NC.

Tommy brings an excellent point about conference tourneys. Utah lost in the first round of their conference tourney when they went to the final in '98. Kentucky '95 (?) is another example of an NC who didn't win their conference (but arguably should have).

Correct, but the ACC was usually stacked with teams and sometimes had two #1 seeds. I guess A&M looks better than UCLA going into the tourney when you notice the Bruins lost two in a row and a tournament game to California
