I guess I'm losing my mind, because I'm sure he died several years ago. I swear I even remember seeing a Letterman tribute.

No more Toast on a Stick before bed for me.

DeForest often drew laughs by his bizarre juxtaposition as a "Late Show" correspondent at events such as the 1994 Winter Olympics in Norway

One of the funniest things I've seen on tv.

I stopped watching years ago, but I remember a bit they did where Dave started talking about how sad they were to announce that Larry had passed - only to be interrupted by Larry behind the window in back of Dave screaming something to the effect of "I'M NOT DEAD, YOU JACKASS!!!!!"

I'll always remember him best handing out hot towels down at the Port Authority, showcasing his complete lack of mic skills.

RIP, sir.

His (Letterman's) mom was funnier for this.

Letterman's NBC show was the funniest talk show ever, and simply some of the funniest television ever. Larry "Bud" Melman was one of the main reasons for this, probably second only to Chris Elliott. Rest in peace, Calvert!

Time to head over to YouTube for an hilarious trip down memory lane...

larry bud was huge in the mid-80s, remember? he was endorsing just about everything. i remember that in '85 or '86, he was the grand marshall for a badgers' football game (that was definately a highlight of the season because they totally sucked back then). when he was presented and introduced the student section went absolutely crazy. he loved it.

r.i.p.

letterman should be really good tonight.

R.I.P., Larry Bud.
But the saddest part:
Quote:
At his request, there will be no funeral service for DeForest, who left no survivors.
