 Post subject: today I got in an argument with a former US Attorney General

Today Edwin Meese, one of Ronald Regan's closet advisors and his fromer Attorney General, came to talk to one of my political science classes. During the question and answers part I asked him about his involment with the Iran Contra scandal. He told me that he was proud of his support and his goverment's support of the Freedom fighters and cut me off when I told him that his use of the term freedom fighter showed an innappropriate bias to a group responsible for so much human rights abuses and that most terrorists called themselves freedom fighters. After that he didn't have anything to say and took the next, and much easier question from a girl about who was his favorite president and why. It was kind of surreal talking to someone who was responsible for the Iran Contra scandal face to face.

Yeah, he was more of a bit player in Iran-Contra (I mean, I guess he shielded the "right people" and hung Ollie out to dry, but he wasn't like. the architect of all the plans or anything), but there was a lot of other dumb shit he got involved in.
