I saw the first episode of that October Road last week and it opens with a scene set "10 years ago"...

All the characters were wearing flannel, rocking out to The Grunge, and had Kurt Cobain posters on their walls. Backwards baseball caps were everywhere.

90's nostalgia is here.
Oy.

oh man, am i setting myself up with this one!

Try having kids call early U2 classic tracks. That's my highschool music they're talking about.

And are you folks aware that U2 and REM were both making albums 20 years ago? They were even considered innovative back then. (hard to imagine...I know)

At least we're getting past the 80's nostalgia. Lionel Richie, Hall and Oates, and Poison were Very Bad Things.

My mother put on a New York soft rock station in the car the other day and I swear it was 2/3 old disco:
MacArthur Park
I Love the Nightlife
More Than a Woman
It's Raining fucking Men, fercrissakes!

There was a Madonna and a Kelly Clarkson thrown in there, but for the hour we were in the car, it was mostly disco.

What's their demographic, gay file clerks?

BTW, U2 has been a band for over 30 years and Boy came out in 1979, IIRC. Thats nearly 28 years ago. Of course, I dont remember it coming out, but Dinosaur Jr was making records 20 years ago, and U2 was almost winning Grammy's at that point. THAT makes me feel old.
