If you like led zeppelin and are curious about solo efforts from the band, this is one of the few i would recommend getting (as well as walking into clarksdale by page/plant, and robert plant's "dreamland") mainly because it tries to break away from the old stuff and is fresh sounding. hope this helps
I would also recommend one of the few "greatest hits" comps I own, which is Robert Plant's
Sixty Six to Timbuktu. I never found any of his solo albums to be particularly good listening as a whole, but he does have some great songs, and most of them are on this two-disc set (disc 2 is rarities, but it's actually a good bunch of rarities, for once.)
I saw JPJ open for King Crimson on their
ConstuKction of Light tour, and he was incredible. He damn near upstaged Crimson just by being so damn fun and looking like he too was having as much fun as the audience . . . King Crimson audiences can be a bit on the serious side, so this was a nice surprise. That said, I didn't really enjoy his two newest solo albums very much. I just kep waiting for something to happen in the songs and nothing ever did. His playing is stellar, of course, but the songs just weren't that interesting to me.
