i joined the cmj board in 2000 due to my fanship of the cmj mag. i was (and still am) willing to explore new sounds so i took just about everything in. i think the first time we did a mix trade (back when it was unorganized and amateur) the best mixes i got were from shiv and mojo. Kid P and I had a lot in common but there wasn't anything he was praising that I didn't know about already. Also PopTodd and I are kindred spirits, in that we can both enjoy a 2.5 minute rock/pop catchy gem of should-be-radio-hit fluff as much as if not more than arty post-rock or whatnot.

also, i remember taking close heed to what the cmj writers would say. i didn't always latch on to their tastes, but their words carried more weight than other posters, for some reason.
