Roky Erickson & the Aliens: The Evil One

The guy has a rep as some kinda psychedelic madman type, but this and also his Don't Slander Me albums are nothing but straight ahead garage rock. The songs on this one are all about monsters. You get zombies, vampires, aliens and more. Nothing deep and mystical, just well played garage rock and silly lyrics. Good fun. Two-Headed Dog and I Walked With A Zombie are a couple highlights.

Love that record.
The lead guitar playing is nothing short of perfect (especially on "I Think Of Demons".)

And, one of Cary's all-time favorite songs is "Two-Headed Dog". (See THIS THREAD for evidence of that.)

Yeah, I've listened to that Don't Slander Me album forever, but just picked this one up. It's pretty similar in approach, although Don't Slander Me may be even more stripped down and straight ahead. I've heard some other bits and pieces of his stuff that I've been so-so about, but I get into these two albums.

np: "think before you speak" good shoes

(on track 9. it's fun stuff but not noteworthy. i'll need a 2nd listen of this & marnie's album just to determine if it's something to keep or not.)

(that went quick.)
