Release Notes:

Colleen is a French musician working within a
minimalist and melodic aesthetic using acoustic
instruments and modern technologies. She has
already released two albums on The Leaf Label
"Everyone Alive Wants Answers" in 2003 and "The
Golden Morning Breaks" in 2005, as well as a live
recording in cult series "Mort aux Vaches" on
Staalplaat in 2006 and an EP made entirely with
music boxes, Colleen Et Les Bo tes Musique , in
October 2006. Her third album, "les ondes
silencieuses", is due out on Leaf on may 21 2007
and focuses on instruments rarely heard in
contemporary music - the viola da gamba (the
7-string ancestor of the cello) and the spinet (a
small harpsichord). Some of her other favorite
instruments, such as the clarinet, classical guitar
and crystal glasses, can also be heard on an album
that is definitely moving away from the looped
structures for which she is better-known. She has
also recently completed her first dance score for
franco-swiss choreographer and dancer Perrine
Valli's "S rie", which will be shown in Geneva and
Paris in april and may 2007. For her live shows
Colleen has developed a specific repertoire, as she
does not want to use any prerecorded element. The
variety of instruments reflects her deep love of
acoustic instruments, and the occasional use of
looping and delay pedals brings her live music
closer to the layered feel of her albums. For the
past four years, Colleen has been playing live all
over Europe, in the US and in Japan, with close to
a hundred gigs. She will do a double tour of the UK
in april and june, as well as some dates in
French-speaking countries in april and may. A tour
of the US and of Australasia are also in the
pipeline. You can find a lot more information
(photos, visuals, gigography, interviews, favourite
music ) and listen to the two albums on Colleen's
website.
