yes. make sure that itunes is set NOT to start up as soon as you plug in your ipod (or at least set not to automatically sync). then hook up your ipod and use a program like ephpod to copy everything to your hard drive.

my last cpu died a horrible death..

i recently purchaesed a new computer..and i obviously don't have the 30gigs of music files on the new one..is there a way to have itunes not delete my entire ipod without me having to upload every album that's on the ipod now??

Only if your iPod was set to "manually manage music" as seen below. If not, it's getting replaced with whatever is in your library when you plug it in.

Also, you may want to authorize your new computer for your iTunes account first.

ephpod will let you copy everything from your ipod to your hard drive, if that's what you want. otherwise, just do what kit says.

it might be set up to automatically manage your music, and i think that you have to tell it that you want to do it manually.

Actually, as the proud owner of a couple of Creatives it is so that he can download and operate a more difficult to use software application - Believe me, you would never buy a Creative player for their software's "ease of use"

Okay, I just want to rant for a second here. My SECOND iPod is broken now. Goddamn it. First one lasted a week, this one's lasted a couple of months. This is some bullshit.

Rant over. Fuck Apple right now.
