OK. This might be frowned upon--I dont know if this should be in hype or whatever, but I just have to talk about this record. I heard it for the first time today (listening to it now) and it is really awesome I think. I think the pop/rock people on this board especially would dig it. Girl/Guy vox, kind of rough and muddy and a great sound. A quick RIYL would be Thermals, early-mid 90s Superchunk, or Apples. At least to my ears..hopefully that's fairly accurate.

Just wanted to talk about this, and if anyone's heard the album, what do you think?

I think it's Dressy Bessy part deux (And yes there are the male vox and steadily upbeat style that also make it Apples in Stereo-esque)

Usually when an album that gets a little "noise" or "hype" it's because there's an "it" factor. something special, something new, something unique. here i don't think it's the case. it's just a really well done pop/rock/E6 album (which i've heard many, many, times before but don't mind hearing again!). so yeah, that being said i think it's good stuff.

One of the many gems on it will find a way on my Best of 2004 mix.

I've heard it a couple of times and like it a lot. There are parts that are endearingly naive sounding, not quite lo-fi, but not that complicated production. But a good album.

I like it a lot. No, it's not terribly original, but I really have a soft spot for the indie pop stuff, especially when it's done well like this one.

Any of you heard the latest Saturday Looks Good To Me record? I like that one quite a bit too.

I sure have. and it's really good as well. Though I like SLGTM's debut the most, and I think Summer Songs had more glorious moments than the new record, I think Every Night is overall more consistent than SS.

And yeah, about HWM, I wasn't trying to say it was super-original or anything, but what they do, they do damn well.
