The View: Hats Off To The Buskers

Been listening to this a bunch this weekend, actually. I've seen comparisons to the Libertines/Babyshambles line and Oasis as well. I can see it. Its got a bit of the looseness of the Libertines/Babyshambles with some of the bombast of Oasis. Supposedly, some folks have these fellas pegged for the "next big thing." I don't know about all that. Nothing groundbreaking, but damn fine indie rock from Scotland.

I went to Target to pick up another copy of rodrigo y gabriela for a friend, and since they had the Lily Allen for $8, I snagged that, too.

It's got this cool thing on there they call U-MYX, where you can remix a couple of the tracks, changing the bass, piano, BG vocals, etc. Could be interesting, and I hope more CDs have this in the future. I could take the vocals off all the Dream Theater discs! Woohoo!

Looking for an old mix tape, I came across my "maxi-casette" single of "Suicide Kings" by Mary My Hope which I've probably not listened to in 10-years (this was released in 1989). I think it holds up pretty well. I saw them open for Swans, bought the tape at the show and that really was all I ever really heard of them. There is some stuff on the Internets about them -- apparently the full-length album was somewhat of a mess but acoloades for the e.p. I have.
