Mine tend to end up having 9 degrees of seperation.

Yeah, that site has about .000000000001% of all bands ever in existance.

But, has the entirety of bands, from the days of Gork and Krrg bashing (literally) out 'tunes' on rocks of varying size to today (when Korn, Got bless 'em, does the same thing), put out an album? Does every band ever have a studio-recorded (or, at least, official live) album to its credit?

I don't think so.

Consequently, I would up your percentage to 0,00000524% of all bands past and extant.

I could spend the entire day reciting names of bands with recorded output who are not on their list.

Yeah, on a few tests I gave it, it should have been called '18 degrees of seperation.'

Heh heh...

"the Smiths" ---> "Sick of It All" = 14 degrees

Heh, the trail includes White Lion, Deep Purple, Anthrax and Iron Maiden.

My guess is that it's really just a bunch of older bands, e.g. the Smiths or whatever... that happen to linked up to newer heavier bands because their original members where eventually replaced by session peeps.

BTW--The Beatles to Big Black actually got there in 6 steps.

Just as Gary Kasparov defeated the super computer Deep Blue, I can defeat www.BandToBand.com

For instance, it's takes a lengthy six connections to get from Orange Juice to The Smiths. I can do it in two.

When it comes to reciting tedious music trivia at the drop of a hat then the best that technology can offer lags way behind this old noggin.

Kinda like back in the mid-90s when I was looking for the Pebbles comps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pebbles,_Volume_1 and Best Buy said they could get it (back when they would specially order stuff)--this is what came in: Image

I found that itunes does the same thing...any Tortoise album being a good example.
