Or a whistle triggered claymore.

Any whistle from 10 feet of it kills everything within 10 yards of it.

It's only placed at night after 10pm when the culprit is known to go on his "strolls".

Then you only have a little collateral damage to your house. The damage only serves as a warning to future whistlers.

Z, are you reading this?

I hate whistling.

I have the same sentiments as the people who've posted "glad you're okay" and "that was a stupid move". I can't imagine that a homeless guy would have much to lose and those are the wrong people to fight with. He'd might even be happy in prison... roof over his head, steady meals, etc. Check yo' self before you wreck yo' self.

my response is pretty much the opposite of this in every way, from syntax to sentiment, but you probably know that and don't really need to hear it from me. I'm glad that you're all right.

Yes, but are you certain my response wasn't a sarcastically-disguised admonition of Squirrgle's actions?

You're right, it wasn't. I just enjoy these periodic dispatches of Obner-related violence eminating from Madison. The original Busty Slap story will probably never be topped, but this was sufficiently amusing from 1,007 miles away.

Hey, maybe Whistlin' Wisconsin has a blog or myspace page. We should look for his take on the incident.

Of course, other Obnish are making a pretty good point related to the homeless guy having nothing to lose and being generally a more ill-advised target for such frontyard vigilantism. I guess the story would have been much better had the homeless guy been a drunken UW frat boy who was pissing on your lawn while whistling "Satellite" by Dave Matthews.

Now THERE'S some violence we can ALL get behind!

My wife and I now have the "fighting bikers" as we like to call them. This couple rides their bicycles at 4:00 in the A.M., and consistently decide to get into fights with each other right in front of our house. Stuff like, "I luv you and who are you to question me about trust!"

So I know where you coming from Cap. I'm just glad that I'm way too tired at that time to lose my cool.

Due to a bad shrooming experience, my college roommate and I are STILL afraid of this song, 11 years later. And isn't it crazy to think that DMB has been around for over 10 years? Yeah.

Carry on.

Bad Squirrgle.

Ok, in hindsight:

1. He was NOT homeless, I'm 99% sure. Just some drunken old dickhead walking home from happy hour.
2. He didn't see where I live.
3. I really, really regret how that turned out, and I'm not proud of myself. He needed much more than a slap, but I wasn't trying to hurt the guy, just get his attention. I can't stress enough how much I really wanted him to shut up, because he was being LOUD. People live on this street.
4. It goes back to manners, and people who have none really set me off, but that's more my issue than his. Should've just said something from a distance and let it go.
5. Fu... I understand, but damn you can be a dick.

Of course I can. But I'm also old enough to realize it's not okay to hit people, especially for something so minor as getting on my nerves.

Hope there are no birds in Madison this spring.

Live and learn, Kyle, live and learn. The great thing about this life is that you don't have to make the same mistakes over and over again.

This from the tough guy who knocks folks out on the train

Leave the violence for people with a true propensity for it..or..make sure you hit him so hard he ain't gettin up.

Ky, you shoulda just called the Fuzz...he'd'a woken up in the drunk tank, having no idea who or why he was there.

This is the truth and the general reason why I tend to avoid getting into it with other drunks. From the seasoned street brawler in my family: "If you're gonna muckle onto a guy, you got to keep fuckin' hitting him until he doesn't get up, especially if he's bigger than you. And if he is bigger than you, it's usually a good idea to break his fingers the first chance you get because otherwise you're probably gonna have a serious problem on your hands..."

Eh, it's an amusing story. I'm sure you're all very wise, but I don't think it's really worth making a morality play out of it.
