I'm an animal lover who's definitely opposed to animal abuse, but I'm often appalled at the hypocrisy of such PETA members as Pamela Anderson.

I mean, how can she seriously call for a boycott of KFC based on their treatment of poultry, when she is single-handedly responsible for more chickens being choked than just about anyone in history?!?

The principle of mistreatment applies regardless of whether it's a chicken or an endangered mountain gorilla. It's still mistreatment. And it's unnecessary. Where it gets silly is when PETA-types want to nearly extend voting rights to the chickens. To paraphrase Shatner, I can't get behind that. But not a damn thing wrong with bringing to light the fact that mistreatment is happening. And the solution is so simple. Don't force-feed the animals and give them a modicum of movement and natural light. Simple as that. It's not a matter of even being a flaky liberal. It's a matter of not seeing the value in making anything suffer physically.

If your argument is there are much more important things to worry about, of course there are. But this thread is about poultry mistreatment, not politics. This is the poultry mistreatment thread. If it were some other thread, that topic would be the important one in that thread. Like, duh.

Personally I don't give a shit if some conservative finds me funny. Fuck 'em. I spent many years as a conservative. It sucked and I'm not about to placate them just so that they'll take me more seriously.

That's awesome. Now where in my post did I talk about conservatives? Knee jerk conservatives & knee jerk liberals will never get a president elected & never care what the other thinks of them. Moderates do get presidents elected & you better care what they think of you especially when someone like Dubya is winning elections.

You didn't mention conservatives. I'm a moderate. A moderate who doesn't care what conservatives think because I've been there, done that and it's all crap.

I am completely and totally moderate in every sense of the frickin word. And yes I think I'm completely capable of helping get people elected without catering to viewpoints I find abhorrant.

Against better judgement, I'll step in again and make the argument that ethically treated animals taste better, and they are better for you than the overcrowded, overdrugged shit that drives the American market these days. I don't know if I've already mentioned this, but I look forward to when I have the space to keep a small chicken coop in the yard. I'll give them a pleasent chicken existence, and they'll give me lots of organic eggs and holiday dinners.
