anyone been to this/plan on going?

I've never been a fan of his music, but even the most cynical shits of my friends tell me he's amazing. and after listening to a few interviews, he seems like one of the most genuinely warm and positive people I've ever heard about in rock. Anyway, he's touring right now on a speaking engagement and I'm thinking of going:

For those who do not know - Andrew WK is pretty much the single most positive, warm, friendly dude we have ever met. Not just an "act" - his kindness is absolutely sincere. I'll never forget the time my friend Mike Z asked for him to sign his 12" copy of "Party Till You Puke". Andrew not contempt to just pen his name on the cover, wrote a full letter to Mike on the back of the record. He took his time and left some of the most positive uplifting comments ever. Then there is the "Gas Bill" story - where a fan asked Andrew for an autograph, searching for a piece of paper - he pulled a gas bill out of his jacket pocket. As Andrew was writing his comments on the back of the bill - he noticed that it was past due and the fan was going to get his gas shut off. Andrew then went into his bus - to retrieve his own personal money to PAY THE FANS GAS BILL. Holy Shit! See we weren't lying - BEST DUDE EVER!

His musical projects lie somewhere between the Ramones and Van Halen. He has toured arenas around the world as well as playing with the legendary Current 93, To Live & Shave In LA and is currently writing songs for Hanson (yeah, the former boy band). What other human being on the planet could release 12" on Bulb Records (an amazing underground label), play piano for Will Oldham's band and help write pop songs for one of the most popular boy pop acts ??? Andrew also has a new television show (after he pulled the plug on his previous MTV show "Your Friend Andrew WK") and a new album which will be released on Load Records.

This will be a ONE NIGHT ONLY event - where Andrew will be creating a special event that will only take place in Philadelpia. It will never be repated again! This is by FAR the most exciting event we have on the 2007 calendar. As soon as we get more info from Andrew - we'll post it on here.....

I have a DVD of his that has 2 live songs on it, plus interviews.

It's not my type of music (caveman rock), but his stage presence is a focking hoot. Plus, he does seem like a nice guy, and talks a mile a minute, so there should be plenty of laughs.

I'd go. Take your gas bill. :lol:

the only bad thing i've heard about him is from some dude who claims he stole over a grand from mondo kim's when he worked there for a week.

i think he's a really cool guy, but yes, he can talk a lot. he and ted leo should get a room...

It would have to be interesting. Huey got into some shit back in the day, and GE was around for all SORTS of nonsense.

In theory, yes, but remember you'd be having to look at the KING of guitar face. Someone with old SNLs on VHS should splice together a YouTube clip with nothing but his appearances in commercial outros...it would be a guitar face MARATHON.
