There was a Question Man-type thingy in the Chron today, and while my example isn't anything to write home about, here 'tis: I was in a restaurant and a woman received a call and talked very loudly for the entire conversation. Why do they do this- do they think people can't hear on the other end? People were looking and someone even shushed her, to no avail.

God, I'd love to be rich enough to be able to replace these things when I grab the phones from people & smash them to bits. The look on their faces would be reward enough.

You?

The worst was when I invited a friend to go to a concert with me, and she proceeded to text message with her husband the entire night.

I'd love to get a backpack size cell blocker, and when this shit happens, I'd whip it out and point it at the bastards with a satisfied look on my face.

Jesus, I can't believe my penis didn't show up anywhere in that last sentence.

I was the non-stop texter throughout SXSW, mainly because the shows were too loud to hear the phone, and everyone kind of funneled through me as a central point of contact.

My friend called me last week while I was having a conversation in a bar with a friend and I ignored her first call and she calls back 10 minutes later, had nothing at all useful to say and got mad at me when I said I was in the middle of something.

Understood, but this woman clearly couldn't be without her man for a mere 2 hours. Just annoying, on so many levels.

I just don't get the need for people to talk on their cell phones in the bathroom. For god's sake, answer the damn call when you're done...or end your conversation as you're walking in.

(texting is a little different story, FT)

This is what I was going to list. Some women in the building I work in use the bathroom as their own personal office. I swear, you walk in there and they're leaning on the sinks making calls.

The last time this happened I shot a dirty look at said woman... she didn't take a hint so I left and when to another bathroom.

WTF? Do you honestly want me to provide a 'live sonic performance' to be saved on your potential future employers answering machine?

When I see someone on the phone in the can, I "go" as loudly as possible.

haha. I was gonna mention this. Great little skits. I remember one where he went and sat at this outdoor play or something and had the thing ring and answered it like that. I like how his screaming hello scares the hell out of people. haha.

And to address the thread:

I don't really mind if people talk and drive. What I do mind is when they can't go but 15 miles below the speed limit or use their blinkers when they are talking and driving. Those people should get a ticket, IMO.

I really can't talk on my cellphone and drive at the same time now that I have a stick shift but I REALLY don't want to be a douchebag and get one of those bluetooth headsets.
