And, simulated felinicide is advertising... a wireless service?

Cannot recall. Ended with the tag, It is not always want you think.

But, whichever, the imagery was awesome. Man readying for in-home date, preparing pasta and sauce. Sauce kettle drops to floor, spilling red all over. Cat wanders over -- man grabs cat to keep it from sullying its pristine fur with Italian delicacy. Then, in walks date, as man clutches cat by tail in one hand, knife in other, with pool of "blood", i.e. sauce, below.

This was awesome.

(As you can tell, I don't like cats. But, no, I don't think they should be murdered. They have a right to live, just not around me.)

yea.. the monkeys for job.com or whatever were the big winner...

second place IMO had to be the fed-ex commerical making fun of commercials... which included as one of their top 10 making sure you had animals, who were witty... gratuitous groin shot, talking a snappy line, and dancing. with Burt Reynolds. Followed by a theme song "don't stop believing" by Journey...

Monkey commercials were the best (I say 2) but the fed ex Burt Reynolds and boxing bear was classic.

Honestly, none of the others registered. The chick in front of the indency congressional hearing grabbed my attention, but went no where. The convertable in the great white north with the guy frozen couldn't have been less about why this is a great car to own. Thought the ad execs didn't perform well... and don't blame it on jr Powell. Geez.

that commercial had everyone in hysterics at the party i went to. and then the careerbuilder ad with the monkeys placing the whoopee cushion under the guy's seat followed it and the laughing continued. good times.

You can watch all the commercials at IFilm.

I really only liked the Ameriquest taser one and the Verizon one with the snake.

War Of The Worlds looks pretty decent.

That was easily the best one for me and I do like cats. It was just some funny shit.

this was for Ameriquest. also, the guy on the cell phone who stops in a convenience store... gets up to the counter, tells his buddy on the other line that "he's getting robbed." the store owner mistakes this for a robbery and starts swinging his bat, while his wife shocks him with a taser.

Easily, the one with the parrot (actually I think it was a cockatoo) who attacks that guy who tries to hook up with the chick in the bar. I think it was a beer commercial. In any case, the parrot was hilarious especially with that cute little accent of his.

The Blockbuster one caught my attention not because it was funny but because of the loud FUCK YOU it sent to Netflix. (the order online/free shipping)

I guess they are flexing their muscles due to Netflix's taking some of their market share. Oh well, it was good while it lasted Netflix.

Also, the most touching commercial by FAR was the Anheuser Busch salute to the troops.

The one where a few soldiers are walking through the airport and everyone starts clapping. I thought that was awesome.

Yea, that was awesome. I started to tear up a bit because my little brother just got back from Iraq. Really great commercial.

yeah, the first thing that it made me think of was that all these people's lost lives were trivialized in the pursuit of selling beer. kind of pissed me off, actually.

i think this was hands down the worst SB commercial year ever. EVER. The only thing that coulda crapped it up a little more would be if they replayed that commercial where they had Christopher Reeve walking, only this time he's a mummy.

actually, that woulda been hilarious.

Easily the funniest commercial. Barely provoked beatdowns are ALWAYS funny. The monkey ones were funny, but only because of the monkeys, further proving the LooGAR #1 rule of comedy: MONKEYS = FUNNY

I thought this was fucking awesome. I then mentioned that I make a habit of shaking people in uniform's hands at airports, or buying them beers if they be at bars in the terminals, and some people thought that was weird. I don't, it's outta respect.

the commercials were, as a whole, disappointing. the monkey commercials were alright, but by far the best monkey superbowl commercial, and perhaps my favorite sb commercial of all time is an e*trade commercial from a few years ago in which there's a monkey dancing in front of someone's garage for about a minute and text appears on the screen saying "we just wasted 2 million dollars". genius, i tell you.

edit: just found this.

I haven't checked out Blockbuster's online selection and I don't think Blockbuster carries unrated movies so who the fuck would make that switch?

I don't think Netflix has anything to worry about.

Dumb commercial too.

They also have a very limited foreign film section. If you like foreign films, you can't beat Netflix.

I just did a little comparison between Blockbuster and Netflix.

Netflix has both Anchorman (unrated) and Wake Up, Ron Burgundy.

Blockbuster only had Anchorman (unrated).

Blockbuster also had Troy listed in their Foreign film section.

Blockbuster also didn't have Boston Beatdown Vol. 2, Netflix does.
