This has been brought up before, but I thought I'd elaborate on the idea a little more.

We seem to have moved beyond caring about stuff like this, but nobody seems to be using the Reviews or Lists forums anymore, or at least not much. How about if they were combined into a single forum, and then we had a new forum in the fourth slot?

Lately I've been really wishing that we had aTrading Forum. This would not so much be for mp3 hookups as actual trading (or even sale) of physical discs. Of course, it would be a strictly no-guarantees/at your own risk sort of thing since there'd no way of enforcing any kind of policies outside of simply outing anyone who didn't uphold their end of a bargain.

I've noticed that some people seem kind of frustrated with lala, and personally I've been to hesitant to even try it. Using half.com or Amazon might offer more guarantees and security, but you'd also be paying for them (plus direct trading isn't an option).

So does anyone still think this would be a good idea? I'm not trying to create more work for Haq or any of the other moderators here (outside of the initial creation of the forum). I'd also want to emphasize that all of the trades be stuff that we have legal rights to (original discs). There could be a single moderator who only has authority over that forum, if that's possible, but he/she would not be responsible for settling any disputes over trades, just the general maintenance.

I'm personally against it, because it might decrease the number of ysi's around here, and I like thoose, plus I'm too attached to almost all of my cds to trade them.

I think it's a good idea. I have some cds that I want to get rid of.

I highly, highly doubt that.

It would mainly be for us old-fashioned types that like our physical media. The rest of you would most likely continue on as usual.

I'm for this. Just delete the street team and lists forums and convert mixes and reviews into one.

Well, I mean, you could just create a brand new trading forum. But I think those other things should be done as well.

Trading vinyl would be cool, too. Anything you legitimately own and can legally trade.

How about vinyl? I'd love to trade some of my weird charity/thrift shop purchases for likewise. Postage was dead cheap to the US from here at least. Cost me a less than a fiver to send a few 45's to Frisco.

Trading albums would be cool, but would it be extended to DVDs, VHSs, or other medias? Books? Etc.

I say yes. It'd be cool to get rid of some old stuff I won't ever listen to anymore.

I could be interested in this... I'm not sure I have a ton of recordings that would be of interest to anyone here, but I would totally be down for trading books and whatnot. I get a little disgusted with myself for letting books collect dust on my bookshelf.

I still haven't really gone through my stuff thoroughly to come up with a full list of things to trade. I'm working on it, tough.
