Anybody catch this last night? He seems to be loosening up a bit. Had no idea he was a big smoker. I'm dying to see where all this stands in exactly one year...

Really? Seems like an bad idea--the smoking thing alone is going to imply weakness... to say he was dragged into quitting by his wife doesn't help. I mean, it's not that big of a deal, but it's exactly the kind of thing that will leave a bad taste in some people's mouths.

well, he was outed as smoking so he could either lie or irnore it. I prefer that he was honest. But i think the wife thing was a cute story and reminds people he's a family man.

would being a smoker really make you vote/not vote for somebody? You people are insane.

The smoking thing, at least the message, is "My wife said I could run for president if I quit smoking."

Just FYI

no, that would have no bearing on me as a voter. what does annoy me a little bit is why this is brought up so often. i'm sure there're other politicians who smoke, but it's not in every interview/article about them, like it seems to be with obama.

He made it an issue to make him seem like a normal guy with normal problems. Its pretty ingenius, really. Because its so off the radar of things peopel care about, but in a small way, most people can identify. It humanizes him, without resorting to blatant pandering.

Timis, I love the music you give me, but your political astuteness is somewhat questionable, bro.

I doubt the revelation that he only recently quit smoking will do him in, given the fact that he has OPENLY admitted MASSIVE WHITE BAG CONSUMPTION as a troubled teen hangin' ten in Hawaii.

When you look at who's in office right now, I don't blame you for getting excited and all abuzz really early.

I'm from Maine, Harley. I don't do "abuzz." Ever. About anything.
