Log-ins don't make any difference using itunes. It's the default media player and library.

I don't download porn. There's enough streaming pirate sites it's not necessary.

The Mac cost 27-hundred dollars. Connor uses it for his creative media projects. He's probably at freshman in college level of understanding right now. Sharp kid with definite movie director aspirations.

The Mac is the family computer. I'm not going to allow the kids their own computers in their rooms until they're much older

If I get another Mac when I can afford it, it will go in my room.

I have a 9-year old PC, but any more than a couple hundred songs clogs up the memory. I guess a couple more external drives would work, but the Big Mac is far superior in every aspect.

You can see why the law would and maybe should protect against the the type of downloading you do, right? That is, if everyone downloaded for "personal entertainment," nothing would ever get sold? I don't really understand why it's so obvious to you that downloading should be legal.

Technically, you're not. You're an infringer of someone's federal statutory rights and liable to them for civil damages.

you may be legally and morally right but people record music, movies, images and text from books and the internet every day. again, you can use the example of no one will ever buy music again but it's just an exaggeration.

as long as i'm not using things to make a profit i can live with myself. like i said, i think it's a personal decision.

i have a bigger issue with lying or having double standards for one's children.

Just tell him, "I got them from some friends." The method of delivery is of no consequence to him.

This is exactly the sort of situation that requires the time-honored parental response of "Shut up, I'm working right now."

In Connor's case it is. He wants to know how everything works and if I don't tell him he works it out on his own.

Boy's gonna have Steve Jobs out of his job by the time he's 20.

Kids are smart. He'll figure it out (or already has), so whatever you do don't lie.

Downloading music is a better example to set than lying.

Don't worry... He won't have to. He'll let their therapists that they'll have when they're thirty explain that.

(Just kidding, Shaw.)

Huh. Not sure what would be done with a picture of a kid making a lego contraption in a library but I suppose there's pervs who photoshop.

Made me think twice about it, anyway.
