i think it's more consistent than "with teeth" and nowhere near as "abstract-to-the-point-of-unlistenability" as the fragile. It has a few nuances and a tighter focus that he hasn't had in a while. So in saying that, i can say it could be his best since "the downward spiral". But that doesn't mean it's near as good as "spiral".

That kind of fucked with my head yesterday. I thought I was losing it. When I opened my 5 CD player to take the CD out, I looked for "the brown CD" and I didn't see it. I thought "wtf."

I heard one song last night in my friend's car. It was kind of revved up industrial techno stuff. It was listenable, but then again I was really drunk.

I still really only like Pretty Hate Machine, but for some reason I always give them a chance. I didn't think With Teeth was worse than the other stuff...actually liked it better as it was more song oriented and not quite so screetchy. I'm sure I'll listen to this at some point. And, that damn color change shit may make me want to own it.

yeah, and i'd pretty much given up on him completely until i heard the single from this album. that got me curious. i've only listened to the album once, and while i know i'll never like it as much as pretty hate machine, it's better than anything else i've heard from him.

See, I happened to LOVE "The Fragile" but really couldn't get into "With Teeth" - as such this album seems like a step back in the right direction, but I don't enjoy it as much as "The Fragile"
