All their albums have some good tracks, but 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and Red Sails In The Sunset are the most challenging and least "regular" rock. After that they mainstreamed their sound a bit, though I didn't see it as a drawback.

my local "college" radio station which seems to mostly play boring white chicks and fake blues was playing spoon, arcade fire and iron and wine at 3am just a moment ago.

Had the chance to see them live in 93, I think... maybe it was 94. But they were good. I don't think I have any of their albums anymore, but they were one of the few "conscience" bands I could get into.

the dead heart is by far the best midnight oil song...i love the instrumental outro to that one. in fact i bought their greatest hits album a couple years ago specifically for that song (for a mix i think). blue sky mining was a favorite of mine way back when too. i still have that tape laying around here somewhere.

I still have Diesel and Dust and Blue Sky Mining. Saw them live in '93 when they were touring with the Hip's festival 'Another Roadside Attraction'. I thought they were great. I'd really like to hear Earth and Sun and Moon again as well. I don't think I've heard it since the mid-90s.
