On Tuesday morning I take delivery of my brand-new wheelchair. It'll be my first new one in six and a half years.

I'm geeked. The bastard's titanium with cambered spoke wheels, super sleek and cost more than my first car. My current ride - which I got while I was a junior in college - has really been showing its age since this summer and I've been hobbling around with bad brakes and a shaky front wheel since July. Still, it made it through Coachella which is no small miracle given the terrain, ground covered and crush of people pressed against from all directions.

I'll post pics as soon as I get them uploaded somewhere - likely late Tuesday morning. Take a look if you have a minute.

Congrats, Chad, sounds like a pretty sweet ride. I had no idea you used a wheelchair, but now I am customizing it in my mind. Will you put flaming skull decals on it? Please?

Some 22s are definitely needed. Do they make those rims that keep spinnin for wheelchairs? Also, can you get cool stuff, like an oil slick, or mounted machine guns for those slow fuckers in the passing lane??

On the real, sweet deal, Chad, sounds like you are pleased.

As awesome as my health insurance is, chrome, hydraulics, automatic weapons and wheel-mounted rocket thrusters (at the firm recommendation of my best friend) were not among the options they covered.

I like the skull and flames suggestion, though, Haq. If there's enough available surface area I'll hit a bike shop and hook that stuff up.

I'm stoked. Now that my shoulder's feeling better I can finally get back to the gym and get back in the form I was when I first got out of college. There's a big road race here in town every August and I'd like to do the five-K this year and do the whole 10-mile course in 2006.

I don't know how much racing you have done in the past. Have you ever done the Peachtree Road Race here in the ATL.

It's passworded. Upload to www.imageshack.us instead, then just copy and past the premade [img] tag.
