So, I'm pretty much addicted to Streets of New York; does any of this guy's older material approach this level and would you care to recommend an album or two?

Thx.

I'd also be interested in knowing some of his earlier work.

I have his first album (S/T) that I'd be happy to up for y'all. It kicks ass as well. Maybe not as good as Streets of New York, but definitely worth hearing.

He's put out so little over a long period of time. And it's all good to me. Places I Have Never Been is rock solid, may be my favorite album of the entire 90's. And must be played at extreme volume levels.

(I can up this if anyone is interested, but it will be the end of the week- I'm in the airport waiting to fly to Miami for the week)

Yeah, I'd definitely be interested in hearing more. Streets is one album I really wish I'd heard sooner in '06.

I thought Places I Have Never Been was quite a letdown after such a long wait. It wasn't a bad album though - probably comparable to the new one in quality - it just didn't jibe well with what I wanted to hear in the early 90s.

I've got both Nile's 1980 debut and the follow up Golden Down on vinyl and CD. Of the two, the debut is quite a bit better, mostly because GD chose poetry over hooks.

Yeh, I prefer the debut over GD, as well. Only have them on original vinyl, not sure I've even seen either of them in cd form. I'll put up that one when I get home Thursday or Friday and let the interested parties know.

On a side note, I read an interview recently where I think Willie said the Streets sessions turned out a lot more songs than ended up on the album, and he was talking about another release maybe in the late fall.
