This is the stuff that caught my attention.

Avey Tare & Kria Brekken - Pullhair Rubeye
Badgerlore - We Are All Hopeful Farmers, We
Bill Calahan - Woke on a Whaleheart
Cornelius - Sensuous
The Fucking Champs - VI
Growing - Vision Swim
Louis Sclavis - L'Imparfait De Langues
Magazine - (reissues)
Joanna Newsom - & the Ys Street Band EP
OOIOO - Eye Remix
Sly & the Family Stone - (reissues)

The only one I'm pretty sure I'll buy is Bill Calahan although Badgerlore, Cornelius, and Growing are likely depending on availability and price.

I liked the Joanna Newsom EP the one time I listened to it. I really like the one Louis Sclavis track I've heard, and while I don't usually pay any attention to remix albums, Eye mixes are generally promising, and him remixing OOIOO is almost a Boredoms album. I'm curious about the Avey Tare thing, but I'm just trying to download it for now.

I'm kinda pissed about the Magazine and Sly & the Family Stone reissues, to be honest. I just bought most of those within the past two years, and the reissues seem promising. The Magazine CDs I have sound OK, just a little on the quiet side, but the Sly Stone stuff could definitely use some improvement.

I'm definitely gonna go after the Sly stuff; I've got some on vinyl but never picked up anything beyond the Greatest Hits on CD mainly because they looked pretty shitty.

Nothing else there looks that interesting to me.

Here's some that I'm interested in:

The Detroit Cobras - Tied and True
Golden Smog - Blood on the Slacks
Mavis Staples - We'll Never Turn Back
The Wildhearts - Wildhearts
Cowboy Junkies - At the End of Paths Taken

Also, The Comas - Spells but I think it may have come out last week.

Out tomorrow that I expect I'll pick up at some point:

Bebel Gilberto "Momento"
Mavis Staples "We'll Never Turn Back"
Stories "Stories"/"About Us" reissue*

Also Worth mentioning:

Bunch of Leonard Cohen reissues
Patti Smith "Twelve"
John Prine & Mac Wiseman "Standard Songs for Average People"

*the S/T album features Michael Brown after The Left Banke he'd left the band before "About Us". I already have "About Us" which is decent but have never been able to find the S/T one which is supposed to be better (or at least closer in style to the Left Banke).

Cornelius is the one that really jumped out to me on that list. Though others really intrigue me, mostly for reasons not related to me knowing anything about them.

I picked up the Arctic Monkeys yesterday. I love their sound and arrangements, but 'Brainstorm' aside the songs don't seem as strong this time around. Might be a grower.

I'm going to pick up Cornelius and Stars of the Lid (came out a month or so ago) sometime this week, assuming I can find it.

I got this awhile ago, Derris. I would have upped it for you, I didn't know you were a fan.

I'm picking up that Arctic Monkeys album and possibly Feist.

Nothing I have to immediately buy.

If I remember correctly, May should be a good month.

I'm interested in those re-issues from MAGAZINE, and saw em used this weekend.

Is there one I can start off with? rather then buying the whole catalog?

Darn, this album's pretty underwhelming after the first listen. It doesn't sound like he put much effort into it.

Check out the video for "Fit Song" from the new Cornelius album:

There's a better quality version on the actual CD which is where I just saw it for the first time.

Ooh...had no idea about this. Never heard of Mac Wiseman, but I suspect I should have.

Wiseman's a fabulous old fart who's been around the bluegrass scene nearly as long as the Monroes and Flatts and Scruggs. One of the founders of the CMA and founder of several prominent bluegrass festivals.

Supposedly one of the nicest dudes in music.
