Is Toronto changing divisions?

Ahh...so then he also has to face Tampa Bay and Baltimore 3-4 times each over the season...

And I hope you are not implying that Toronto can't swing the bat

Tampa and Baltimore aren't very good teams but its not because of a lack of offense. I think I'd rather pitch to Toronto than either of them, not that Toronto can't swing the bat.

Nothing gets by you. :)

And Toronto can swing the bat, but hardly the powerhouse lineup that the Yanks are.....just sayin.

No doubt, Yankees have a great offense, I think you nailed the obvious there :o I would be surprised if Matsuzaka ends up pitching against them more then three times the rest of the year (note: he pitches Fri against them)

As for his other 20 starts...he should be fine

Not knocking his pitching at all....
Hard to really say anythign bout him after 4 starts.

But the obvious. Very impressive against the average and above average lineups. Mediocre against the first elite lineup he faced.

The course of the season is what everyone needs to judge of course.
I'll be there Friday night.

More power to him...just not against the Yanks.

Mediocre was on the other team, not the Sox. Dice-K gave up 6 (and pitched a bit better then the 6, but those are the numbers). Yankees are averaging 6.5 runs per game. I would say he performed about average...

Frankly, the numbers show that a Yankee starter has made it to the 6th inning only 3 times in 18 games. That is mediocre. For perspective, Dice-K has eclipsed that mark by himself.

Yeah, that's league average. Hardly something to be excited about.

If you were to judge him by that one game, then I agree. Fortunately he has other work from which to judge :D

I don't know where you got that stat, but its not close to being right. Yankee starters have made the 6th inning in 8 of 18 games. Pettite has pitched six or more innings in 3 of his 4 starts, but he's the only starter that's been consistently good and healthy. Calling the rest of their starting staff mediocre is a gift at this point. Their main problem though is getting their starters healthy and strong. When Wang and Mussina are both healthy and have made a few starts and built some arm strength, it will be a much different story.

I've got too much girl in me to be a good Yankee fan.

I'm terrible at this sort of conversation. I enjoy baseball. My favorite team is the Yankees. There is no hate.

I'm a goddamn pussy.

Yeah I don't give a fuck about the stats either, as long as my team's winning.

I meant been on the mound to start the 7th...not finished the sixth. Good catch. I think the point is still fair though. You are correct that they can only get better when they get healthy, my point was whoever tried to label Matsuzaka as mediocre, which is ridiculous at best

I found this funny. I wouldn't be surprised since Schilling is a scheming piece of shit...

Quote:
Gary Thorne told a story during last night's broadcast that Doug Mirabelli told him that Curt Schilling's bloody sock was in fact, red paint. Not that it should be a surprise to anyone. Curt certainly has his eyes open to making the most of a moment, and his desire to be liked probably led him to set up an alibi in case he failed. Mirabelli's reply was "I don't even know Gary Thorne"... but Thorne has no reason to make that up.

Again. you need to actually read the other posts, before you respond to them. You can make a more valid point.

I am the one who said his start against the Yankees was mediocre.
I stated that his first three starts, he pitched 20 innings and gave up 6 earned runs. In his start against the Yankees, he pitched 7 innings and gave up 6 earned runs.

I was wrong. That start wasn't mediocre. It was pretty crappy...Lucky for you, our pitching was worse that night....

see ya tomorrow night in the Bronx!

my post.

again, never said there was a positive about the game.

I'll break it down for you, so as not to give you more opportunities to distort what I was trying to say.

Dice - K's first three games: 20 inninngs - 6 earned runs
vs. the Yankees: 7 innings - 6 earned runs

We got to him. Plain and simple. He is not going go to be pitching against KC, or Seattle or Toronto all year.

you won the game. wait wait....i mean 'the Red Sox' won the game. Dic-K had a very medicore start. Friday may be different? We shall see.

oh snap!

Billy. I'll be out there the weekend of May 18th -20th. My days will be pretty filled at the Fangoria Horror Fest, but the nights will be all about Amoeba and hanging if you or Tania are around! I'm staying in Burbank.

wow, Pettite announcing he is going to start pitching inside more to hitters to 'get back' for Jeter/Arod... Count on a few HRs from Sox hitters, as Pettite is at his best when pitching away from hitters.

I suppose by Yankee definition, Pettite is now less then mediocre?

Great game, Dice-K showed tremendous poise after getting in a big jam. That Yankees bullpen is cooked, they are in serious trouble

Can't wait to see Giambi's D at first tonight :-)
