Yeah, as soon as I saw "Michael Penn" in the thread title, I clicked Squirrg's link to the CNN.com article and read away. I had wondered what brought on a Greatest Hits collection, but am glad they did it.

as a complete aside... the local "alternative" station here did a thing on Friday morning, where during their 80s themed "8 @ 8" segment, they played a snippet from an 80s song and people had to call in to guess (btw, when was the last time you could say you've ever heard Bourgeois Tagg on the radio? I heard it on Friday morning). The song snippet turned out to be Michael Penn's "No Myth."

"Long Way Down (Looked What The Cat Drug In)" is still stellar.

Segues moodwise into Crowded House's "Better Be Home Soon" perfectly.

I got copies of both the greatest hits and remastered Mr. Hollywood Jr, 1947.

Both are very good indeed.
