For decades, 92.5 FM has been THE "Classic Rock" station here in Dallas, but all of a sudden last week out of the blue, they hauled off and switched formats. They are now "commercial-free" with each hour "sponsored by" either Southwest Airlines, AT&T or Coors Light, and play an amalgam of Classic Country, "Outlaw Country," Southern-Fried Rock and Alt-Country.

I just heard "Red-Eyed and Blue" by Wilco (who NEVER, EVER gets played here on ANY station...at least not since "Monday" was a so-called buzz track), which came right after Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues."

Yeah, nothing beats the iPod, but this is a lot better than any other terrestrial radio station in these parts. I especially think Fu, Kingfish and LooGAR would enjoy this station.

That format sounds awesome; I bet it gets TERRIBLE ratings. The problem being that the very people who would like that station already listen to CD's, satellite radio, or an iPod in their car and have little or no interest in going back to terrestrial (even limited) commercial FM radio.

So enjoy it while it lasts.

We just got a station that plays nothing but "classic country". Basically, it kicks ass because while you would think they would play 70s and 80s, they go back to the beginning and play all types of stuff from bluegrass to honky tonk. Great station. Don't hear much of that type of thing outside of Nashville.

People who listen to country don't have cd's. They have cassettes and no idea what satellite radio is

Aren't you supposed to be coming to pick up your in-laws' furniture scraps sometime soon?

do you mean people who listen exclusively to country or just like a few country singers? either way, that statement is pretty ridiculous for now. 20 years ago, though? right on.
