i got a macbook... no printscreen button how the F do i snag the screen?

Shift+Cmd+3 (i think it's 3) will give you a crosshair so you can select what you want. I think just Cmd+3 will do the whole screen.

It's easy, it's just been a few years since I was on a mac.

Command-Shift-4 [part of the display to disk] OS 9, 10.1.x and 10.2
Command-Shift-4 + Control [part of the display to clipboard] OS 9 and 10.2
Command-Shift-4 + Capslock [active window to disk] OS 9
Command-Shift-4 + Capslock + then control [active window to clipboard] OS 9
Command-Shift-4 + Spacebar [active window to disk] OS X 10.2
Command-Shift-4 + Spacebar + Control [active window to clipboard] OS X 10.2

Caps Lock + Shift + Apple + 4 gives you the cross-hairs to snap windows.

Shift + Apple + 3 captures the entire screen(s).

When the hell did Caps lock get thrown in there. Yuck.

Also, does is still pop up on your hard drive as Picture 01, Picture 02, etc.? I don't need to know, but that would point these dudes in the right direction.

There's also "grab." Search for it in spotlight. I use it all the time.
