33 years young my friends. And what better present than to escape society for a few short hours? Took a jaunt up a mountain called The Cobbler. It's called The Cobbler because it's supposed to look like a Cobbler. It doesn't.

Image

Here it is not looking like a Cobbler. Looks closes doesn't it? It's not close either it's fucking miles away as I was disappointed to find out. This picture is taken from the Narnain Boulders. It's a boulder field with loads of huge boulders. Most of them are about 8-10ft high. Some are as big as buldings. Quite an eerie landscape as you thread your way through them.

Image

How many mountains has Hipinion been up, eh? eh? Or ILM. F-U-C-K Y-O-U.

Image

The summit rock. The last 50ft or so is a grade 5 hard scramble, meaning you need two hands to stop from dying so I had to ditch the camera and the rucksack to get to the top.

Image

Still here's a shot from CLOSE to the top.

Image

And another one.

Thats all from me and if anyone is willing to donor a pair of knee caps please get in touch.

What, no OBNER flag to plant on the summit?

Happy birthday. Nice photos. Thanks for sharing those.

If there were a church reverened by Pastor D. "Slappy" Frew, I'd be up on it.

Joyeux anniversaire, mon ami! On Thursday whilst at work, I noticed on my calendar that Friday was circled with large colourful letters reading, 'DARRIN'S BIRTHDAY!'...yet, I still managed to forget posting about it.

It looks like you spent your birthday surrounded by beautiful Mother Earth. Is that a river or a loch behind the Obner sign? Where exactly is The Cobbler located?

It's a sea loch. Loch Long to be exact. Britain's nuclear submarine base is just down a bit, hope I'm not giving away any secrets!

The Cobbler is situated in Arrochar. It's to the west of Loch Lomond. If you look at the picture down one from the Obner one, you can see a little bit of Loch Lomond (top watery bit, Loch Long bottom wattery bit), as well as Ben Lomond. You can't really see the Arrochar Alps when you drive up Loch Lomond because the Luss hills block the view.

Man, I need to find some excuse to get sent to Scotland for a couple weeks. I think we have a supplier somewhere around Falkirk. Beautiful pics, and happy belated to you, sir.
