Listening to this now, I'm finding it really strange that Radcliffe's the one to post this thread. I'm chalking it up to locality.

Also, Pitchfork's calling this "prog" is just the laziest writing imaginable. "They sound a little like Fiery Furnaces, Fiery Furnaces are a little prog, therefore this is prog."

Also, I don't know why I'm bringing this all up 2 years after the fact.

So do you like Brigadoon?

Oddly enough, I think that Quasi album has some similarities to it. It's not that they really sound similar (aside from male/female vocals), but I guess I have similar feelings about them. There are some nice, catchy songs, some really dull ones, and a few mildly annoying moments. In general, I don't dislike either, and I probably wouldn't have gotten rid of that P:ano album if I didn't already have way too many CDs. I think maybe I like the Quasi album a little more, though, so I'm going to hang onto it for a while.

Yeah, I do like it. I had downloaded it before, then lost it, so I figured I'd get a questionably legit copy. I can definitely see similarities to Quasi, particularly in the vocal department (part of that is just that both bands have one female and one male vocalist, both mediocre but somehow endearing). That's one of two Quasi albums I've had, and I always like them ok at first and get sick of them really quickly.

this album held up very well for me. it was #10 of 2005 on my list that year, and I still listen to it often.

Are we talking about P:ano or Quasi here?

Both. Drinky traded me Brigadoon for Featuring Birds.
