mark out when meeting celebrites or quasi celebrities, but at lunch today...

I took the subway up to FYE on 51st and 6th to pick up Artie Lang's (of Howard Stern show) new DVD and get it signed.

I think Aritie is one of the funniest guys ever, so just shaking his hand would have been cool, but then I had to go tell him "He was the best part of the show..." and "....so how do you think the Yanks are gonna do this year?"..

He seemsed sincerely appreciative about the first comment, and guaranteed a World Championship on the 2nd..

Good enough for me!!

go Artie!

not quite sure if Artie could be labelled a celebrity, or even a quasi celebrity. Of course, I did appreciate his cameo in "Mystery Men" as the leader of the Red Eyes when I watched it last night....

I overheard the counter jockey commenting how they sold bout 400 copies of the DVd since 10am...Thats gotta qualify for 'quasi' level celebrity, no?

I found the mp3 on slsk where he talks about his time on Mad TV. Gambling debt, coke habit, a long run down Melrose & 1 punched cop later it's one of the best 30 minutes on Howard I've ever heard.

The addition of Artie was the best thing to ever happen to the Howard Stern show. His Rush Limbaugh and Star Trek impressions are gold.

C-level at best. With apologies to 'Spoon and the other radio Ob's--Even famous people in radio aren't really famous.

That's the only reason that radio has survived the technical innovations that should have made it deader than Dillinger by 1965------everyone who has any true radio talent is so self aggrandizing that they make themselves seem 100 times more famous than they really are whether it be Howard Stern, Don Imus, Michael Savage or any local jock worth his salt.

incomplete thought that i may have to expand on later, sorry.

Artie is funny, but hell, would it have been that big a deal for Howard to pay Jackie the extra money he wanted right out of his pocket? Jeez, the guy had been with him since his WNBC days.

Like I said, Artie is funny, but the show was better when Jackie was around.

Artie's impressions of Courtney Love and Debbie Schlussel are pretty hilarious too. Plus you can't beat his exchanges with Gary The Retard.

Fred was doing a pretty funny impression the other day too.

I think Howard was just sick of Jackie leaving or going "on strike" every time his contract negotiations came around. This was like the 4th or 5th time he'd done something like that.

Artie Lange. He was on Mad TV for awhile. He's been in Dirty Work, Elf, Old School, mostly as a supporting actor.

If he weren't a self-loathing drunk, he'd probably be the star of "Yes, Dear" or something.

But the world needs some good self-loathing drunks who don't wind up on "Yes, Dear" kinda things.
