this was the topic of one of my very first threads i started on cmj way back when....

my pick then & now is gwyneth paltrow stripping to pulp's "like a friend" in great expectations

"like a friend" usually just makes me think of instances when i'm glad i waited on a US release with the bonus track(s) instead of getting ripped off for the import.

How about "Jump Into The Fire" from Goodfellas

"Dry The Rain" from High Fidelity

"Making Time" from Rushmore

"Talk Show Host" from Romeo & Juliet

"He Needs Me" Punch-Drunk Love

"Wise Up" from Magnolia (when I first saw this, I was like WTF? but I watched it last year again and was totally floored)

any of the Led Zeppelin parts in Almost Famous (especially "That's The Way" and "The Rain Song")

"The Man In Me" from The Big Lebowski

Damn, I cannot think of anything from before 1990. So sad. It is early, though.

Well, I don't care if it rains or freezes, as long as I got my Plastic Jesus riding on the dashboard of my car…

"The Journey Of The Sorcerer" by The Eagles from The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy (most notably used in the BBC TV mini-series, although nodded at in the movie also)

Most of the music from the movie Jackie Brown. The stuff is generally not a genre I listen to, but the way it's utilized in the film is great.

You noticed that too, huh? Actually, I sat in my seat for a while listening to it. It was nice.

I couldn't figure out who it was for about a minute.

I know it's recent, but I'm going to have a hard time seperating the entire Feel Good Lost album by Broken Social Scene from Half Nelson.
