Why aren't you out somewhere and drunk?

By this time on my 30th birthday, I was in the bathroom with my head in the toilet.

Thanks.

Yeah I am...it's alright.

Pros: Decent pay & benefits, not in an office most of the day, co-workers are good for the most part.

Cons: Management are borderline retarded and have ridiculous standards, being in the office in the morning sucks, basically useless union, some co-workers are among the most annoying people I've ever met though that's easily remedied by wearing headphones.

those con could show up anywhere though, so based on what you said, i expect that my suspicions are true. didn't mean to hijack. looking forward to the next batch of records. oh, and our boy is 7-0.

i should also have added to the cons: being out in the snow and rain kind of sucks.

beckett's been amazing.

It's so awesome. I went 2-1-1 tonight. Don't recall my record from my previous trip.

Adam And The Ants Kings Of The Wild Frontier There's some good songs on here but the version I downloaded sounds pretty shitty so I either need to download a good version of it or buy a remastered copy, if they've done that. Anyways, I guess this was their best album? I never really got into them that much outside of the singles I've heard. Best song - Press Darlings Keep, but find better sounding copy

The Annuals Be He Me/Git Got Yeah this kinda sucked. They reminded me of Incubus or a shitty Mercury Rev for some reason. I just thought the songs were boring and it was a chore to make it through this album and the ep. Best song - I can't think of one Toss

sorry no song upload for them. you can torture yourselves.

i have similar feelings about that annuals record but i have trouble being honest with myself about it. i don't know why. also, i saw them last fall and they sucked really hard. still, i try to convince myself that i like the record. maybe you have given me the courage to knock it off.

I like that Annuals record for the most part, but there are some songs that make me cringe. Or at least parts of some songs.

Antihero Peel Session So some of the guys from Pull Tiger Tail played in this band and since I like PTT so much I though this might be somewhat similar but it's kinda crappy pop punk. I turned it off halfway though the first song. Best song - didn't get that far. Toss

no upload for them either. don't worry, it's no big loss.

Image

Aqualung Memory Man This was decent in a Coldplay/Radiohead-lite kind of way but none of the songs seemed to stick with me after I got done listening to the album. Also, I don't think the singer has a very strong voice. It seemed like he'd hit a wall once he tried to go into an upper register. I'll leave it on and maybe give it another chance but right now it's looking like Ewe Boll's directing career. Best song - Pressure Suit Keep

Aquaduct Or Give Me Death I thought Aquaduct's last album, I Sold Gold, was okay but most of the songs weren't that memorable outside of Hardcore Days & Softcore Nights & Growing Up With GNR. I don't think he's solved that problem with this one but it's looking better. I think fans of Self would like this. What the songs lack in hooks he makes up for it with lyrics that are pretty silly but work in some odd way. It sounds like this album is revenge against a girl who's done him wrong, which is cool. Best song - With Friends Like These Keep

That new Aqualung really disappointed me too.

For my money I'd get Adam and the Ants Prince Charming album. I think it's weirdly brilliant all the way through.

Arcade Fire Funeral Blah blah blah. I really don't need to talk about this other than that I didn't hear it until like a year after it got released. I guess I was just avoiding the hype. It would've made my year end list if I had heard it though. Best song - Crown Of Love Keep

Code:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/ox86hf

Image

Arcade Fire Neon Bible I dunno. This one's really not doing it for me. I mean it sounds good and everything but the songs just aren't as strong as the ones on Funeral. Maybe it's a grower. Also, they shouldn't let the girl sing anymore leads. Black Wave/Bad Vibrations would've sounded so much better if Win sang the whole thing. Best song - No Cars Go Keep

Code:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/2ta4da

Image

Joseph Arthur Nuclear Daydream I haven't bought anything by him since Our Shadows Will Remain though I've downloaded most of them. Of course, I haven't really listened to them because I'm a download whore. This album is alright. It sounds like he's going for a more pop sound and I don't mean slick, commercial stuff. Some of the songs reminded me of 60's pop/r&b stuff not in the vocals but the music. I like some of the vocal work on the album (baritone backing vocals, etc) too. Best song - Enough To Get Away Keep

Code:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/bnuj91

Image

Audionom Retrospektiv When I saw this in the playlist, I assumed it was some minimal electronic artist and that I was gonna be bored to death by the 3rd song. Nope. They sound like that Trans Champs/Fucking Am collaboration from a couple years ago. They split the songs between instrumentals and some with vocals, and even one with a vocoder just to up the Trans Am comparisons. Things get a bit monotonous towards the end with a couple of 7+ minute songs and one almost 15 minute monster but most of the songs on here are really good. Best song - And You Said I Was The Only One Keep

Code:

Awesome Color s/t

This was just fucking awful and a chore to get through the whole album. Really bad, boring as shit, derivative stoner rock. Why the fuck did I even download this in the first place? These guys should never be allowed to release another album. Fuck you guys, you would've ruined my day if not for the next 2 albums I listened to. Best song - nothing Toss

Image

AZ The Format I don't know why I slept on him for so long. I seriously hadn't heard of him until 2005's A.W.O.L.. I didn't even remember him on Nas' Illmatic. I'm a dumbass. This is a great East Coast hip hop album. It reminds me of shit like Black Moon's Enta Da Stage where just about every track is killer and the MC is just on fire. Fuck all that southern hip hop shit, this is what rappers are supposed to sound like. Best song - Sit 'Em Back Slow Keep

Code:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/qid821

Image

Band Of Horses Everything All The Time Nobody minds if there's a My Morning Jacket clone right? Though I suspect MMJ is a much better live band from actually seeing them and then seeing a shitty performance by BOH on Late Night. Still, this is a killer album. Best song - Our Swords Keep

Art Brut It's A Bit Complicated

I didn't really like Art Brut the first time I heard them but seeing them live changed all that, though Eddie's voice can get a little grating after awhile. I think I might enjoy this album more than their debut. Someone said it's more poppy than the debut and I can hear that, tho I don't think it's a bad thing and they certainly haven't sold out or whatever. Best song - People In Love Keep

Code:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/e9ng4e

Image

Bark Bark Bark Haunts This sounds like The Unicorns crossed with Beck, and not as good as either of them. *awaits Unicorns hate* Whatever, I liked The Unicorns. It seems like he's trying too hard to be wacky and it comes off as forced. This may need further listenings though. Best song - New Kids On The Block Keep, for now

Code:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/cthxqm

Image

Bat For Lashes Fur & Gold This is really good. The singer sounds like Bjork without the goofy weirdness but the music is more Nick Cave-ish, I guess. I posted the song Sad Eyes on that Secret Admirer mix in the Mix Forum but a lot of these songs are a bit more uptempo and use strings, pianos and other orchestral instruments to great effect. I don't think it's actually been released yet but if it does come out this year, it's definitely ending up on my top 20. Best song - What's A Girl To Do (tho Sad Eyes is really my favorite) Keep

1990s Cookies, See You At The Lights Wow, this is crap. They have a song about smoking pot called, Weed. So I guess the singer or whoever used to be in a band with Alex Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand. Looks like Alex knew to get away quick from this no-talent ass clown. Also, I think he might be a MOLO because I heard references to underage girls in 2 different songs. I think the See You At The Lights single might be a little more listenable than the album, but not by much. Actually, the single only has 3 songs on it but someone saw fit to include some songs from an earlier single on it too. Not that it helps. Even Lovefoxxx guesting on Super-Legal can't save this band from my trash bin. Least irritating song - See You At The Lights Trash, both of them
