jesus, how old is lightning bolts fan base, 10? those videos on their site look like they're taken from a 6th grade dance.

and man do they suck.

You bring up valid arguments, Dalen. Yes their fan base is all 10 year olds and all of their shows are 6th grade dances. But the point is, shouldn't you be posting about your new favorite Blur rip off or perhaps how great of a cover it was and how Muse is the best band ever and how mature their live show is(like, OMG, there's not people around for miles, what a sophisticated band!) The heart and passion of real music is clearly well centered in a band like Muse, and besides, what do those Lightning Bolt fans think they're doing moving at a show and wearing clothes with color on it when they should be dressed fashionably as such:
Image

Those Lightning Bolt kids should just grow up and play normal rock instruments. Guitar man! yea!

If by "suck" you mean they sound generally inaccessible, I might agree.

They are two ace musicians (proof by playing mixed meters that tightly and that speed) and are able to tap into raw emotional energy like nobody I've heard in the past decade. For me, that is not suck.

The cover means well but does nothing for me. Cool that Muse are fans, though.

Christ.... this is like Taking Back Sunday saying that everything they've ever done is homage to "Pinkerton" or something...
Can't stand muse...
Can't live without the Bolt...

oohhh, hit a nerve by shredding on your precious bullshit bolt.

sorry, but they're absolute garbage IMO.

and a band i enjoy doing a cover of a horrendous tune doesn't mean it's good.

also, just because a band has a large fan base and can no longer play 6th grade dances, doesn't mean they don't have passion for the music they play and the fans that enjoy it.

I almost posted this link yesterday, but I decided it was too unremarkable.

Never did I imagine that Muse's laughably neutered rendition of that song would spark comments that Lightning Bolt is a crappy band.

Huh.

i think it's awesome that Muse would even give this a shot. but there's practically no point in covering a LB song at this point...too difficult! it's like covering the Beatles or U2...it just doesn't right.

You like the word "ghetto" when referring to hip hop, huh?

also, what's with the "their fanbase must be juvenile!" bullshit? most LB fans i know in this area run from late teens to mid-40s. they're an integral part of the PVD/Boston noise scene and go to pretty crazy lengths to insure that their shows are unique, challenging, and memorable experiences, as well as doing a great deal to support unknown noise artists.

just 'cause you don't get it or don't like it, doesn't mean it is de facto "garbage."

Allelulah! Someone speaking the truth on this one...

Dalen/Chase, I'm sorry if you don't like/get The Bolt, but (whether you like them or not), you'd have to admit they're a good 10 times more original than Muse - Though to be fair, Lightning Blot seems to be striving towards some kind of originality, whilst Muse seem to be striving towards Travis. You don't have to reinvent the wheel to e a good band, but it's even harder to be a good band while striving to do just that...

actually i just don't like'em, i respect what they're trying to do. they're infinitely better than muse, sure, but even muse is better than some of that brit-schlock like keane and those other bands.

Yeah - leave it to Keane to make even a DJ Shadow remix sound bad...

I'm a really happy person- I wake up every morning genuinely wondering what the day has in store with excited anticipation.

Attending a "battle of the bands" with Muse, Keane, Travis, Kasabian and PLacebo might actually make me commit suicide.

I like Lightning Bolt.

I like Muse and most of the other cover song choices they've made but this was pretty worthless. You're not going to come close to topping the original.
